Fauci Fights Back
Former Director of NIAID Faces Republican Criticism
Fauci Defends His Record
In his first public testimony since stepping down from government office, Dr. Anthony Fauci fended off attacks from Republican critics. The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) appeared before a House committee to discuss his role in the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fauci, who served as NIAID director for 38 years, has been a target of criticism from Republicans who have accused him of misleading the public about the pandemic and of funding research that led to the virus's development. However, Fauci defended his record, saying that he "always followed the science" and that he "was never influenced by politics."
