Paris 2024: Laurentia Tan leads Singapore's strong start at Para Equestrian

Laurentia Tan enjoyed a strong outing

Laurentia Tan produced a strong start for Singapore in Para Equestrian at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on Wednesday (Aug 23) in France.

Competing in the Individual Championship Test Grade 1 event, Tan scored 70.368 per cent to finish 13th overall out of a field of 21 riders.

The 34-year-old was making her Paralympic debut and her performance has given her confidence a boost ahead of the Individual Freestyle Test Grade 1 event on Saturday.

More Singaporeans in action

Gemma Foo

Singapore's other Para Equestrian rider, Gemma Foo, will be in action on Thursday in the Individual Championship Test Grade IV event.

Maximillian Tan

Maximillian Tan will be competing in the Individual Championship Test Grade II event on Friday.

Singapore's hopes rest on Tan

Singapore's hopes of winning a medal in Para Equestrian rest on Tan, who is a three-time world champion and the reigning Asian Para Games champion.

She will be looking to add to her impressive medal haul in Paris, having won gold in the Individual Freestyle Test Grade 1 event at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta and bronze in the same event at the 2014 Asian Para Games in Incheon.

Singapore's strong showing in Para Equestrian is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the riders and their support team.

The team has been training hard in the lead-up to the Paralympics and their efforts are now paying off.
